Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (OLE) is not the same as regular lemon eucalyptus essential oil or eucalyptus oil.
OLE is a refined plant-based ingredient made from the lemon eucalyptus plant and contains PMD (para-menthane-3,8-diol), the compound recognized for helping repel ticks and mosquitoes. Regular essential oils may smell similar, but they do not contain the same concentrated active compounds or proven level of protection.

We chose a DEET-free formula because we wanted a more nature-inspired option for outdoor protection. Instead of relying on harsh chemicals, Big Bear Tick Guard uses Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (OLE), a plant-based active ingredient recognized for helping repel ticks and mosquitoes while providing a lighter, more refreshing feel outdoors.
